Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity’s 2010 Community Picnic
Join us on Sunday afternoon, August 29, for a picnic to celebrate and support the special way Habitat helps people achieve the dream of every family: homeownership. Shelburne Farms is the perfect setting for a picnic. Cooks from the Texas Roadhouse in Williston will be grilling up lots of delicious food for your pleasure. Kids and adults will have a great time playing games along the shores of Lake Champlain. Badminton, croquet and special kids games and many other family friendly activities will be enjoyed. Tickets are only $10 per person or $25 for a family of three or more. Please come to have a great time and support Habitat's mission to end substandard housing and promote AFFORDABLE home ownership here in our community.

Our newest house on Elmwood Avenue is making rapid progress. The second floor is framed and the roof trusses are up already. It was only a little more than a month ago that we had a Women's Build" event at the site that was sponsored by Lowe's with food from the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant. This new two story energy efficient three bedroom home of approximately 1100 ft sq is being built on Elmwood Avenue in Burlington’s “Old North End”. The Habitat Partner Family should be in their new home in the fall of this year. |

We had an amazing late spring evening to enjoy all of the festivities, meeting old and new friends alike and celebrating the beginning of this unique project. Read more about this event in the next edition of our Habitat newsletter coming in early August.
A special thank you to all of the individuals, businesses, groups and organizations who helped make this event so successful. |

Hello Habitat Volunteers,
Construction season is about to get underway and I wanted to let you know that many volunteer opportunities have been posted to our online calendar! You will notice that several say "reserved" beside them and that is because groups have the opportunity to reserve a date to work together. If the group is unable to fill all the volunteer openings for a day, the remaining slots are opened up for individuals to fill approximately 10 days prior to the work day. Volunteers are able to register for openings until 24 hours before the start time (typically 8:00 a.m.). This allows the house director time to plan according to the number of volunteers registered.
Please check out our online calendar and see if there are openings that fit into your schedule. If you are available to help out, please click the link below (or copy it into your browser) to register.
http://greenmountainhfh.volunteerhub.com/Events/Browse.aspx
If you are not available for any of the open dates, please check back periodically because more volunteer opportunities are being added over the next month.
Thank you for supporting Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity,
Amy Richardson
Volunteer Coordinator
