A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple, tax-efficient way to support Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity. When you contribute to a DAF, you receive the allowable tax deduction, even if you recommend a gift to Green Mountain Habitat at a later time.
Assets in your DAF can grow tax-free, giving you the flexibility to choose the best time to make your gift. Many DAF sponsors also offer the option to set up recurring gifts, allowing you to provide ongoing support for Green Mountain Habitat’s mission. Most DAF providers offer easy-to-use online portals, making it simple to manage your giving.
To get started, contact your financial advisor or banking institution to set up a Donor-Advised Fund, or reach out to your DAF sponsor to recommend a gift from an existing fund. Consulting a financial professional will ensure that your wishes to make a lasting impact will be fulfilled.
If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your IRA to Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
A QCD can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and provides significant tax advantages.
Unlike taking a personal distribution, a QCD does not increase your adjusted gross income. Your gift can also be excluded from your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions.
Giving through your IRA is as simple as contacting your IRA administrator to request a direct distribution to Green Mountain Habitat.
We appreciate the donation of items to help us run our ReStores, manage volunteer and construction operations, and make a difference in our community.

Did you know that many companies offer matching financial donations when their employees make a charitable contribution to a non-profit organization? These employers offer dollar-for-dollar financial matches, but some will double or triple the amount that their employees donate, even for retirees!
Most companies that have these programs access a national database of nonprofit organizations that employees search by name, location, category, or by entering the organization tax ID or EIN number. If your organization has a matching gift program but does not access a national non-profit database, please consider asking your HR department to add Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity as an available nonprofit to be added to their list of charitable organizations to donate to. Our EIN# is: 22-2558923
Affordable building lots are hard to come by in Northwest Vermont. An available piece of property could make all the difference for Vermonters to attain safe and affordable places to call home.
Whether it’s vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, or commercial property, if you know of a piece of land that could be donated or sold, or a home that needs to be torn down and rebuilt, please contact Brett Johnson, CEO.
