Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity joins the world in mourning the death of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. A champion for affordable and decent housing, he and Rosalynn Carter donated their time and leadership each year to build and improve homes with Habitat around the world. President Carter died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 29, at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by his family.
Local staff will miss the periodic announcements about President Carter working on home-build projects around the Country. “Working on the same mission locally as a Former President of the United States gave us extra inspiration each day,” said David Mullin, CEO of Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity. “He provided us with a lasting example of what service, and generosity truly are. He didn’t just think about it, or talk about it, he stepped up and helped improve the lives of families in need.”
Today, we’re praying for all of President Carter’s family and friends. President Carter led by example. He and Rosalynn put their faith into action and focused on what unites us, and not what can divide us. We will continue to honor him by doing all we can to help others.
