Building homes and changing lives in Northwest Vermont.

Volunteer Your Time with Us!

Volunteerism is vital to our mission

We could not do what we do without our generous volunteers. With Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity, you have the opportunity to support your local community, right here in Northwest Vermont. Because of the help of people like you, whole neighborhoods improve and completely transform. Through this transformation, families achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life.

Sponsored Team Builds

A Team Build day allows your business to strengthen its team while helping families achieve their dream of affordable homeownership. Unlike spending a day doing trust falls and building marshmallow towers, we will challenge your group to communicate, work together, and create something that makes a difference. Employees will return to the workplace motivated, connected, and inspired!

Team Build donations cover the cost of building materials, supervision and swag. Lunch is also provided for the group. We ask for $1000 for up to 10 volunteers. We have a 10-person max each day; if more people want to participate, we can schedule multiple build days.

Please email volunteer@vermonthabitat.org for more information. We are now scheduling for early 2024.

Bring a Group

Are you part of a sports or business team, faith congregation, or community group? Volunteer at a Habitat site! We can host up to 10 people, if more people want to participate, we’re happy to accommodate multiple build days and scheduling is flexible —stay for a few hours, or the whole day. Group projects take more planning and require more supervision than others, so contact us in advance if you’d like to join us.

Please email volunteer@vermonthabitat.org for more information or to schedule your group now.

Feed a Volunteer, Feed a Family

Own a restaurant or run a kitchen? Donate meals to our hardworking volunteers! Individuals can support our “Lunch Fund” as well!

Our volunteers work hard on our build sites and in our restores all year round, the least we can do is feed them! Our “Feed a Volunteer, Feed a Family program” is a great way for local restaurants to give back while also doing what they do best, make great food! This program allows for meals to be brought right on-site for the volunteers to enjoy, including the partner families who are working towards their sweat equity.

Reach out to our Volunteer Manager to donate food, or donate to our “Lunch Fund” that directly helps alleviate the costs of feeding those who give back so much!

Specialty Builds

Women Build Week

July 22-27

Our Women Build Week is an annual event to raise awareness about the housing crisis and its disproportionate impact on women-led households. Teams are responsible for raising $1,500 to cover the cost of the day’s building materials, site supervision, meals, and swag.

Priding ourselves on being allies to all, we believe that a person is shaped by multiple overlapping identities, creating a reality greater than the sum of its parts. Gender, race, age, location, disability status, income, sexuality, and citizenship are a few of the many identities that shape our experiences and needs. We encourage self-identifying women, people of color, trans women, and women-aligned groups to participate.

Please email volunteer@vermonthabitat.org for more information.

Pride Build Week

Sept. 16-21

At Green Mountain Habitat, we believe everyone deserves a decent place to live. We invite members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to help us build a home for a family or individual in need. Habitat’s PRIDE Build focuses on building an inclusive community where every individual and family has the opportunity to obtain fair and equitable housing – and where LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies all know they are welcome to come build community.

Pride Build is a fun way for members and supporters of the LGBTQ communities to come together to celebrate diversity in Vermont, learn new skills and make an important statement about the fundamental human right of a safe, decent, affordable place to live for everyone. We encourage LGBTQ+, allies. and LGBTQ+ groups to participate.

Please email volunteer@vermonthabitat.org for more information.
