As Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity grows, we have been adding new staff to our team to increase our capacity. One of those new team members is Maeve (she/her), who is our Family Services Coordinator.
She will help assist our Family Support and Family Selection committees, aid in homeowner support, and conduct community outreach to grow our awareness. Maeve will play a key role in ensuring that our partner families have a great experience when partnering with Green Mountain Habitat.
Let’s hear from Maeve about her path to Green Mountain Habitat.
Q: Tell us about yourself!
I’m from a small town in Western New York called Alfred. I moved to Burlington, went to UVM, and graduated in May 2024. I studied Public Communication.
I’m interested in direct service work. I love working with the community and bringing people together.
Q: What made you interested in Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity?
I actually volunteered at a ReStore before COVID in high school, and that’s where I first learned about Habitat for Humanity.
During my last semester of school, Ellie, our Marketing Manager, was working with a group of students in a class that I was a TA for, so I learned more about the home ownership program, which was really cool.
I definitely knew that I wanted to be a part of a nonprofit after college. The work here is relevant, especially with the housing crisis in Vermont.
Q: What are you most excited about for this new role?
I’m just most excited to dive into something totally new. This is my first professional full-time experience with nonprofits. I’m really passionate about working with community members, so I’m excited to make a direct impact.
Q: How has your experience been so far?
I’m just really excited to be here! The staff have all been supportive so far, and I’m excited to form the Family Services Department and see where that leads me.
Q: Finally, what’s a fun fact about yourself?
I’m really passionate about biking and art and crafts! I also do a lot of creative writing in my free time.
