Williston, VT – Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Johnson as its next Chief Executive Officer. Johnson will assume the role on January 20, succeeding David Mullin, who will retire in February after 25 years of dedicated service to the organization.
Johnson will spend several weeks working closely with David and the GMHFH Leadership team and staff to ensure a smooth transition and to become fully acquainted with the organization’s mission, operations, and community.
Johnson brings a strong background in executive leadership within mission-driven organizations, with experience managing diverse teams of up to 50 professionals. His expertise includes fundraising, resource development, and stakeholder engagement across government, corporate, and community sectors. In addition, Johnson has hands-on construction experience from his early career working in his family’s construction business, providing him with a practical understanding of the work central to Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
“We are confident that Brett’s strategic vision, leadership experience, and commitment to service will guide Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity into its next chapter of growth and impact,” said the organization’s leadership in a statement.
GMHFH also extends its deepest gratitude to David Mullin for his 25 years of service and leadership. His contributions and strategic mindset have been instrumental in strengthening the organization and expanding access to safe, affordable housing for families across Northwest Vermont. David has also led the launch of Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity ReStores in Williston, Milton, and Swanton, Vermont. Under his leadership, the affiliate has experienced significant growth, expanding its reach and impact while remaining firmly committed to its core values of affordable housing, partnership, and community building.
Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity looks forward to continuing its mission under Johnson’s leadership while honoring the strong foundation built over the past 25 years.
